With seasonal closures, elk migrations and snow coverage, we have a list of open trails for your spring hiking itineraries.

Late April through mid-June can turn into a guessing game in regards to what trails are open and what trails are not. This season, guess no more, we have a list of open trails and future opening dates for the Vail Valley!


Biking & Hiking Trails

    • Berry Creek
    • Our Backyard, Playground Way, Beaver Creek Point
    • Eagle – Redneck Ridge, Boneyard, Pool & Ice and the first tow loops of Haymaker
    • Eagle-Vail Trail and Stone Creek
    • Homestead Open Space

Hiking Trails only

    • Booth Creek
    • Pitkin Creek
    • Bighorn Creek
    • Deluge Lake
    • Gore Creek Trail

Forest Service Seasonal Closures

    • North Trail – opens June 20
    • Buffehr Creek – opens June 20
    • Son of Middle Creek – Opens June 20
    • Two Elk – opens June 30
    • Whiskey Creek – opens June 20
    • Eastern Hillside – opens June 20
    • Everkrisp Trail – opens June 20

Beaver Creek Seasonal Trail Closures

    • Village to Village Trail – Closed May 6 to July 1
    • Elkhorn Trail – Closed May 6 to July 1

West Avon Preserve

    • Opens April 24


    • All east Eagle trails are open
    • Trails on Hardscrabble Mountain are closed until May 1
